GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR GAME
PLAY CONTROLLED GREENSIDE LOBS
The low, running chip-and-run shot is one we use much more on the European Tour than in the US. The cropped green surrounds mean we can get the club on the back of the ball more often, which gives us an opportunity to play this useful shot.
SWING PLANE FOR ACCURATE IRON PLAYS
Swing plane - the angle at which you move the club around your body - can make or break your iron shots. The correct angle sees the club swinging straight down the target line at impact, meaning you can hit the ball with authority and consistency and with quiet hands.

SWEETER FAIRWAY WOOD SHOTS
When I'm hitting a fairway wood I focus on nipping the ball cleanly off the turf. I never want to be taking a divot - that's a sign of a narrow swing and an angle of attack that's too steep for the minimal loft on the clubface.
CONTROL YOUR DISTANCE
The is only one truly effective way to improve your ability to pitch pin-high, and that is through practice. I have three wedges - pitch, sand and lob - and three standard swing lengths, half, three-quarter and full. So by practising hard with each club I'm able to build up a total of nine standard distances I can hit the ball.
