Luke Donald thrilled a select crowd at Bearwoods Lakes GC yesterday - in the week of his defence of the BMW PGA Championship .
A mixture of Mizuno competition winners from across Europe and members of Bearwood Lakes GC were treated to a clinic and Q&A from the English golf star.
Then a group of 3 balls took on Luke on at Bearwood's intimidating 175 yard 14th water hole. With a hard breeze coming in from the water, hitting the green was a tough enough challenge. The added pressure of playing with the world #2 in front of the TV cameras, made the shot near impossible for some.
Luke finished his day with a signing session for Bearwood's junior players who rushed in droves to Bearwood as the local schools finished.
"That's as tough a golfing challenge as most amateur players will ever have," said David Matthews, Mizuno's European Marketing Manager. "Some of our guests pulled some amazing shots out of the bag considering the pressure."
Nicholas Buckland (19) from London won a spot for himself and two playing companions on the Mizuno Golf Facebook page. Hittng the first shot of the day, Nicholas stood tall and knocked a soaring iron to the centre of the green. His father Martin Buckland did even better, drilling his under the wind to finish inside Luke's ball.
Mizuno's President, Akito Mizuno also joined from Japan to attend.
