Hot Metal – Extreme distance and forgiveness

Incorporating Mizuno’s HOT METAL concept into iron design, the MX-1000 is for golfers looking for an extreme combination of distance and forgiveness.

MX-1000

High MOI Hollow Construction

Astonishing distances that push the boundaries of the R&A and USGA’s performance limitations are achieved by plasma welding a thin, hot, ES230 maraging steel face to a 431 stainless steel body – a technique perfected in Mizuno’s MP Fli-Hi utility iron.

MX-1000

HOT METAL Technology

The HOT METAL face is teamed with a hollow construction and internal weighting -encouraging strikes from a wide area of the face to hold their line with minimal distance loss. The hollow construction also allows weight to be engineered deep within the head for a naturally high trajectory – enabling the use of stronger lofts for even greater distance.

Aggressively bevelled lead and trailing edges effectively narrow the MX-1000’s substantial soleplate, for clean turf interaction and use from a variety of lies.

This model is designed to conform to the 2010 Condition of Competition rule.

"The MX-1000 takes distance and forgiveness as far as they can"

"We learned a lot about the possibilities of hollow construction with our Fli-Hi irons. The MX-1000 takes the distance and flight benefits of that technology right through to the GW."

"We've used technology and materials to increase forgiveness, rather than the old trick of adding loads of offset to an over-large head. Our quest is to develop equipment that gives amateur golfers every technical performance benefit possible – but with head profiles that even professionals could potentially put in their own bags."

"The MX-1000 takes distance and forgiveness as far as they can, without the head size and profile becoming offensive to the eye."

David Llewellyn, Atlanta R&D
