Wood and Donald finish last event tied at 9 under
Career high world ranking for Chris Wood
Mizuno’s Chris Wood and Luke Donald had matching finishes to their 2015 seasons, both finishing at 9 under at the DP World Tour Championship.
With MP-5 irons in both bags, Donald finished slightly the stronger with a 70 to pull level with Wood who shot a level par 72. After an injury stricken start to 2015, Wood played the most consistent golf of his career to date, ensuring a much better platform for 2016. Rising from 64th at the end of 2014 to finish 17th in the European rankings at the end of 2016, Wood is in position to capitalize on his form and improved health.
“To finish 2015 with a career high world ranking of 52nd is a great achievement considering Woody started with a broken wrist,” commented Alex Thorne. “Within golf that top 50 barrier is huge in terms of invites to higher ranking events and the possibilities they bring.”
“Woody still hasn’t really caught fire yet – this is all based on improved consistency. He’s still bedding in swing changes made this season under a new coach Mike Walker. There’s still so much potential left.”
Meanwhile on the Ladies European Tour, rookie Nanna Koerstz Madsen was also making strides in 2015 – finishing 8th in the final rankings, just behind Nicole Broch Larsen (2nd) and Gwladys Nocera (4th).
On the LPGA Stacy Lewis (world 3) and rookie of the year Sei Young Kim, now ranked world #7 both also represent Mizuno.
