Teshima took the first win with Mizuno’s new MP-X ball

Mizuno’s Taichi Teshima finished -15 to become the first Mizuno staff player to win the Mizuno Open since Tommy Nakajima in 1986.  A closing 69 saw 46-year-old Teshima win his eighth title on the Japan Golf Tour by two shots.

With the win Teshima is now qualified to play the 144th Open Championship at St Andrews this year.  Four others earned spots at this year’s Open, including up and coming Mizuno staffer, Shinji Tomimura –  who will be playing his very first Open Championship.  Tomimura will make his Open debut thanks to a second consecutive 67.

Teshima’s win was also the first for Mizuno’s new MP X ball launched in March 2015.

The top 4 players at the Mizuno Open qualified for the 144th Open Championship at St Andrews. 2nd from left is Akito Mizuno, President Mizuno Corp.
