Teshima claims 2nd Japanese Major

Teshima extends Tour card by 5 years

imgMizuno’s Taichi Teshima (45) carded a -9 total to win the 2014 Japan PGA Championship – 7th career win and second Japanese major title.

The victory comes nearly seven years after Teshima’s last victory at the Casio World Open in 2007.

Teshima led entering the final round, but after letting a 2 stroke lead slip at the first hole managed to protect his position whilst the opposition fell away.

The win ensures that Teshima’s tour card (which he has held for a record 18 years) is automatically extended for 5 more years. It also gives Teshima the chance to qualify for The Open – currently $20,000 behind from the current 2nd ranked player on the money list, which would qualify to play at Royal Liverpool. Teshima uses MP-54 irons (4-PW), MP Craft 513 driver and the MP-T11 wedges (54, 60).
