Spin a little #BlueMagic with the new S5 wedges

New S5 wedges due for September release

The new S5 wedges first seen in Luke Donald’s bag during The TPC/Sawgrass will be available in Europe from September 5th.

Grain Flow Forged for Mizuno’s trademark soft touch around distance control, the S5 offers an enticing midsize profile – with sharply visible sole grinds for imagination and creativity around the green. The eye catching Blue IP is a secondary finish which will gently wear away from the sole to reveal the white satin chrome underlay.

Initially designed to be a slighter larger alternative to the more compact MP-T5 wedges, the S5 was sufficiently versatile enough for Luke Donald to hang onto after a filming session in April and have been in play since.  Donald used the wedges effectively at both Royal County Down and St Andrews – recording respectable finishes in both events.

“These are more of a mid-size profile, so there’s a lot more clubface for fuller shots. Less intimidating when you’re faced with a 95 yards off a less than perfect lie. They went into Luke Donald’s bag in April and were precise enough to stay in for St Andrews, which suggests we did a pretty good job with the sole grinds and versatility round the greens.” Chris Voshall, Club Engineer.

Adaptable rounded leading edge. A slightly rounded leading edge allows the wedge to be opened or closed – whilst still aligned to target.

Precise distance control.  Grain Flow Forging compresses and maintains a consistent grain through neck and hosel – ensuring consistency through every club head for predictable distances.

Versatile sole grinds.  The mid-size profile is paired with sharply visible sole grinds recommended by Luke Donald – keeping the wedges versatile for an array of shots and lies.

High spin through the lofts.  Mizuno’s Quad Cut Grooves are CNC Milled after the forging process to ensure every single wedge sits just inside the USGA’s groove limits. A wider shallow groove on the higher lofts (54-62 degrees) and a deeper narrower groove on the lower lofts (49-53 degrees) are designed to maximise spin from both full and partial shots.

Blue IP or White Satin.  Blue IP is a stunning finish over the standard white satin that will wear without reducing the durability of the plating itself.

Full custom options.   Shaft, grips and set up can be matched to your Mizuno custom irons, to maintain a flow through the set – as recommended by our Fitting technicians and European Tour staff.  Custom stamping also available.

The Blue IP S5 wedge can also be custom stamped – 6 characters in one of 12 colours.
