Pepperell and Fisher finish 1st and 2nd playing Mizuno irons

First tour win for Eddie Pepperell with JPX900 Tour irons at Qatar Masters

Eddie Pepperell claimed his first European Tour win at the Qatar Masters – holding off fellow Mizuno iron player Oliver Fisher on the 18th.  Both players recently signed to Mizuno – Pepperell playing JPX900 Tour irons and Fisher MP-18 SC.

Pepperell entered the final day level with Fisher at the top of the leaderboard and while he opened up a three-shot lead at the turn, an impressive fightback by Fisher meant the pair were separated by a just single stroke as they went up the par five last.  Fisher has the advantage after two shots with Pepperell in the rough after both men laid-up but the 27 year old hit an excellent 9 iron to set up a par which his playing partner could only match.  Pepperell was considering playing pw for his 3rd shot, but was calmly talked into 9 iron by his caddy.

Pepperell’s closing round of 70 got him to 18 under, with Fisher signing for a 71.
