Mizuno irons played by 4 of top 10 finishers in Oman

Mizuno iron usage continues to increase on European Tour

As the 2018 European season hit the penultimate event of its Middle East swing  – Mizuno irons continued to gather increased usage.  In Oman, 4 of the top 10 finishers had Mizuno irons in play, with 14 sets of Mizuno irons in play overall.  Mizuno’s top contracted player Jorge Campillo finished in joint 4th position at (-11).

Jorge Campillo was one of 14 players to use Mizuno irons in Oman, with a split set of JPX900 Tour and MP-18 muscle backs.

A number of new ‘Team Mizuno‘ players displayed their irons in the blue and white staff bag made famous by 6 time major winner Nick Faldo and former world #1 Luke Donald  – with James Heath and Laurie Canter joining Jorge Campillo, Oliver Fisher, Marcus Fraser, Eddie Pepperell and Lasse Jensen.

The MP-18 SC was the most popular Mizuno iron model in Oman – with 7 sets in play.

Most popular Mizuno iron in Oman was the MP-18 SC (7 sets), followed by MP-18 (3 sets), JPX900 Tour (2 sets), MP-18 MMC (1), with just Campillo playing a blended set of JPX900 Tour / MP-18.

Mizuno irons were resurgent on tour in 2017 – with increasing numbers of non contracted players switching to its irons on both the US and European Tours.  Mizuno’s 2017 season was capped at the US Open with JPX900 Tours in the bag of the winner.
