Hattori claims 5th LPGA title with JPX850 Forged irons

While Provot takes her maiden title on the LET Tour

A busy weekend for Mizuno players round the globe saw JPX850 Forged user Mayu Hattori claim her fifth LPGA of Japan (JLPGA) title with a 4-shot (-14) victory at the 2015 CAT Ladies. The 27-year old opened the tournament with a 7-under 66, and powered home with a 69 to take the title.

There was a second win for the JPX850 Forged on the LET Access Tour, with France’s Ariane Provot taking her maiden victory at the Sölvesborg Ladies Open.  Provot shot the joint low round of the final day, 65, to eventually win through a play-off.  American Stacy Lewis almost continued the theme with a (-12) finish in the Canadian Open, eventually losing in playoff to Lydia Ko.

Alex Thorne, Tour Operations Manager believes that the JPX850 Forged is an ideal iron for the ladies tour.  “We’ve had a lot of success with the JPX850 Forged iron with our ladies tour players.  It’s still got that nice versatile shape from address, but with a little more pop from the face.  For the stronger men, that ball speed can almost be a little too much – but it’s a great balance for players like Stacy Lewis, Mayu and Ariane.

Gwladys visitAnother Mizuno player in the news recently is current European #3 ranked Gwladys Nocera – confirmed as a member of this year’s Solheim Cup squad for October.  Nocera made a trip to inspect Mizuno’s custom assembly line in Cumbernauld, Scotland during August.

Howell IIIOn the PGA Tour Luke Donald and Charles Howell shared 8 sub 70 rounds to finish (-10) and (-9) respectively.  Both Donald and Howell have the new blue IP S5 wedges in play, while Howell also used the new MP-25 Boron Forged irons to good effect.  Donald also confirmed that he will join the field at Woburn Golf Club when the British Masters makes its much anticipated return to The European Tour from October 8-11. Donald will be seeking to add the title to the three European Tour victories he has already achieved on British soil, in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club in 2011 and 2012, and the 2011 Scottish Open at Castle Stuart Golf Links.
