Chris Wood’s lost irons arrive in time for The Masters

Missing MP-5 and MP-25 mixed set located in time for Augusta

An appearance at The Masters is overwhelming enough – without the stress of losing your favourite irons in the build up.  Yet that happened to Mizuno’s rising star Chris Wood in the build up to his 2nd Masters.

After spending a few days in Augusta the previous weekend, Woody flew back to the UK only to find that his clubs had missed the flight.

“It’s every players worst nightmare,” said Mizuno’s European Tour Operations Manager, Alex Thorne.  “After a hairy few days, we managed to get his clubs back to our Atlanta office.  They were driven back to Augusta and were safely handed back to Woody at the weekend.

“Although we can make another set, players at this level can always feel the difference.  With the fine margins at Augusta, it was the one week of the year Woody couldn’t do without his regular irons.  The airline offered to pay for a hire set…..that wasn’t quite what Woody was after.”

Chris Wood is playing his 2nd Masters having previously qualified in 2010. Wood was then an inexperienced professional but had earned his invitation thanks to a top-three finish in The Open Championship at Turnberry the previous July.  On this occasion Woody’s year-long performances on the European Tour secured his slot in the season’s opening major championship.

Chris Wood plays a mix of MP-25 (3&4) and MP-5s (5-PW) with MP-T5 wedges (52, 56, 60 degree).
