Chris Wood wins BMW PGA Championship
Woody holds his nerve after incredible front 29
Mizuno’s Chris Wood won the 3rd and most significant PGA European Tour of his career – the 2016 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth GC. After 36 holes, Wood had been 8 shots off the lead and an unlikely winner – but a staggering display of ball striking took Wood into a last day back 9 lead. After a record equalling front side 29, ‘Woody’ held his nerve on the home stretch to win by just 1 shot (-9).
Wood’s precise Grain Flow Forged Mizuno irons and wedge saw him home when the pressure was at its highest. Into the par 5 18th, Wood played his JPX EZ 3 wood 307 yards off the tee for safety and MP -T5 sand wedge twice to guarantee par and ensure the win.
Wood played MP-25 (3 & 4 iron), MP-5 (5-PW), MP T-5 wedges (52, 56, 60) and JPX EZ 3 wood.
